Endel Ots and Lucky Strike Aim for Summer Solstice
Geschrieben auf: Juni 14, 2019

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice in June occurs when the Sun reaches both its highest and northernmost points in the sky, so Endel Ots is also aiming for the points this coming weekend at the Gold Coast Dressage Association's Summer Solstice Dressage Show. "Lucky has been training so well. Despite the Florida heat, she comes out everyday full of himself and super enthusiastic" Ots shares, "But it is always good to don the shadbelly and retest ourselves by heading down centerline, and Gold Coast (Dressage Association) always puts on great shows right here in Wellington.

Ots has trained Lucky since he was a 3 year old and as both a five and six year old Lucky represented the United States in the FEI World Breeding Championships in Europe. Last year the pair won the Developing Horse Prix St Georges National Championships in the US. This year Ots has his sights set on the Pan Am Games in Peru. Ots knows what it takes, he was the alternate on the Pan Am Gold Medal Team in Mexico in 2011 and Lucky has already proved he can travel and show his best with ease.

While the Pan Am qualifying period is over and Ots and Lucky are in an excellent position, he feels keeping Lucky tuned in the show ring is paramount. "I never want to be less then 100% in my training and preparing" say Ots who has high hopes of being selected for the team. Outside the show ring, Ots has had several opportunities to train with Charlotte Bredahl, an Olympic Medalist, 4*Judge and the current US Dressage Development Coach. "If we make it to the Pan Ams we will be that much more competitive thanks to Charlotte" , says Ots, "Her expertise and judges perspective are outstanding, but it is her ability to instill confidence while bringing out the best in me that is so incredibly helpful. I am grateful for her time and training".
