Custom Saddlery Returns as Platinum Sponsor of Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championships

Long Valley, NJ (April 26, 2017) — Custom Saddlery knows that supporting the future of dressage is vital to the sport’s success. That’s why the company has once again chosen to serve as a platinum sponsor of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) National Championships to be held on April 28-30, 2017 in Long Valley, New Jersey, at Centenary University. As a longtime sponsor of the IDA National Championships, Custom Saddlery supports IDA’s mission of helping college students develop their skills in dressage and their appreciation of the sport through organized student competitions and educational opportunities.

As part of Custom Saddlery’s commitment to IDA, four Custom Saddlery Signature Steffen's Advantage saddles will be awarded to the winning team at the 2017 IDA National Championships. The Signature Steffen’s Advantage model features a deep, supportive seat to encourage a correct position, and a single flap to eliminate bulk to increase feel of the horse. The saddles will afford the collegiate athletes the opportunity to ride in the same saddles used by the country’s top riders, thus giving them a leg up not only in competition, but in their riding careers as well.

Professional Custom Saddlery saddle fitter Candice Ozolins, who services upstate New York and eastern Pennsylvania, will be at the IDA National Championships to present the winning team with their saddles. Ozolins will also be available with top-quality Custom Saddlery merchandise, expert fitting advice, and information on Custom Saddlery throughout the weekend. For anyone interested in learning how to fit a saddle for optimum comfort and performance for both horse and rider, Ozolins is offering a free saddle fitting demo at noon on Friday, April 28 at the IDA National Championships, following the horse selections.

The Intercollegiate Dressage Association was formed in 1995 and has steadily grown into the nationally recognized program that it is today. IDA relies on the generous support of companies and sponsors such as Custom Saddlery to help and reward the country’s up-and-coming dressage riders.

The winners of the 2015 and 2016 Championships, the Emory & Henry College Dressage Team, skillfully perfected each division’s rides both years, and were thrilled to receive four new Custom Saddlery dressage saddles as a reward each of their winning years.

“The Custom saddles are premium dressage saddles,” said Emory & Henry College Dressage Team coach Lisa Moosmueller-Terry, Vice President of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association. “The saddles put the rider in the right position to balance well and achieve a stable, correct posture that allows the rider to effectively communicate with the horse. We’re very grateful for Custom Saddlery’s support of IDA and collegiate riding. Sponsors like Custom Saddlery are important to IDA because of the reputation that Custom Saddlery has with dressage riders outside of collegiate competition.”

Custom Saddlery is the favorite saddle of dressage Olympians such as Steffen Peters and Patrik Kittel, as well as other top riders including Juan Matute Guimon and Heather Blitz. The company is proud to play a key role in sponsoring the next generation of talented dressage riders through IDA and providing them with quality tack. Custom Saddlery offers a wide variety of top-quality saddles, like the Signature Steffen’s Advantage model, with a myriad of opportunities to customize the saddles for comfort and preference for both horse and rider. Expert saddle fitting services and accessories are also available throughout the United States and in Europe.
