Gladstone, NJ — Olivia LaGoy-Weltz and Mette Rosencrantz already looked like champions when they entered the show ring at The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions in Gladstone, NJ, with their stylish Custom Saddlery saddles fit to optimize performance. By the end of the prestigious national competition, both riders had achieved impressive results. Custom Saddlery, a company known for crafting unique, top quality saddles to perfectly fit individual horse and rider pairs, is proud to congratulate LaGoy-Weltz and Rosencrantz for their achievements. LaGoy-Weltz and Rosencrantz, both sponsored by Custom Saddlery, are known as Custom Saddlery MVRs (Most Valuable Riders).

Olivia LaGoy-Weltz rose to the occasion with a series of scores over 70 percent throughout the competition, including a win in the FEI Grand Prix Special. “It was great to win the Special. It’s exhilarating to see how far this horse has come and how much he has changed,” said the San Francisco native about her longtime partner, Lonoir, the 17.1-hand, 13-year-old Danish gelding (De Noir x Lorani) bred by Jan og Dart Rassling. “Lono is becoming so confident in the work and his lifestyle as a show horse. He really loves all the extra attention at shows – though it's not as if he's not doted on at home! He's turned out to be quite a special horse.” Lagoy-Weltz and Lonoir also rode to a 73.150 percent in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle and a 70.40 percent in the FEI Grand Prix.

The Custom Saddlery MVR makes sure to equip her partner with top-of-the-line tack before going down centerline. “In 2014, I started riding Lono in a Custom Wolfgang model with a long block. I love the fit of that saddle. It's still one of my favorite models. I also ride in the Omni, the Advantage Mono Flap, and the Wolfgang Solo.”

Lagoy-Weltz began riding at the age of five, and went on to train at top barns in Holland and Germany before moving to Virginia in 2013, where she is based year-round at Mountain Crest Farm in Haymarket. She also provides FEI-level dressage training services during the winter in Wellington, Florida.

With her sights set next on Nations Cup competitions overseas, Lagoy-Weltz will be sure to keep Custom Saddlery a part of her winning strategy, thanks to the saddles’ incomparable comfort and convenience. “I love their availability. Custom has an extensive network of saddlers all over the country, and now in Europe, too. I have a great saddle fitter in Virginia as well as in Florida, and now with Custom having a base in The Netherlands, as well, I know that I have a great saddle support system no matter where I go.” Lagoy-Weltz will be wasting no time in putting this support system to use this summer, as she will be competing in The Netherlands in June. “Lono and I have been named to the Rotterdam Nations Cup team, and if all goes well there, then we’re on to Aachen!”

Joining LaGoy-Weltz in the top four placings in the Grand Prix Special in The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions was Custom Saddlery MVR Mette Rosencrantz. Rosencrantz competed on Marron, her 16.3-hand, 17-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Michellino x Manoela) bred by Ole Pedersen. The blossoming confidence down centerline between the California-based rider and her partner of just a year was evident throughout the show, and they ended the weekend with a 70.25 percent in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle.

“I always ride in Custom Saddles and have done so for many years,” said Rosencrantz, who rides Marron in Custom’s Icon Flight model. “Custom Saddlery continues to develop new models of different types with different leather. You can always find something that works for you. You can find saddles that fit each human body and each horse. I’m a big fan of Custom saddles!”

Custom Saddlery MVRs like LaGoy-Weltz and Rosencrantz know that quality tack and equipment are integral to bringing out the best in a horse and rider. Other top dressage riders who appreciate the importance of great fit and comfort include Custom Saddlery MVRs Heather Blitz, Juan Matute Guimon, Patrik Kittel, and Steffen Peters.
