Olympian Ashley Holzer Begins U.S. Citizenship with Custom Saddlery MVR Award at Adequan Global Dressage Festival
Wellington, FL (February 29, 2016)– Four-time Canadian dressage Olympian Ashley Holzer has a lot to celebrate this month, and Custom Saddlery has decided to celebrate with her. As she continues to compete successfully at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, the talented Grand Prix dressage rider Holzer officially became a United States citizen just weeks ago. Custom Saddlery, the Official Saddle of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), gave Holzer a warm welcome as a new U.S. citizen by presenting her with the Custom Saddlery MVR (Most Valuable Rider) Award at the international winter show series.
The Custom Saddlery MVR Award is given to riders who are in the forefront of the sport of dressage, with high scores and superb horsemanship. Holzer received an embroidered Custom Saddlery saddle pad, bag, towel, and ribbon as the newest MVR Award recipient.
The Custom Saddlery MVR Award added to an already very exciting month for Holzer. “I just became an American citizen, and I’m so excited,” shared Holzer, who lives in Florida. “I’ve lived here for a very, very long time, and my children were always saying to me, ‘Mom, it’s crazy you’re not American!’ I love this country; I love all of the opportunities it has given me. I’m very thrilled to be a citizen.”
Currently, Holzer is enjoying competing in the Grand Prix at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival with Peacock Ridge LLC’s KWPN mare Tiva Nana. “She’s been in my life for a long, long time,” Holzer said of the mare. The trust and familiarity in the pairing is evident as they compete.
Tiva Nana is back in the show ring after an unfortunately unsuccessful breeding attempt, and she is right at home in the competitive atmosphere. “She loves to work,” said Holzer. “I just point her and she goes! She’s just a really fun horse to ride.”
The hard working pair’s goal for this season is to continue improving in the show ring. “We made some mistakes last week; she was a little eager, I would say, but I’d rather be too eager than the opposite of that!” explained Holzer.
Holzer is planning a summer trip to Europe with a few friends to compete in the European dressage circuit. “We’re going to check off that bucket list dream of going to Europe with a bunch of friends and showing.”
The Custom Saddlery Most Valuable Rider Award is awarded at major horse shows to recognize individuals who go above and beyond in the sport. Holzer expressed her gratitude to Custom Saddlery for the award and for the company’s support of the equestrian community, including its sponsorship of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. “I just want to say thank you to Custom Saddlery for supporting dressage here,” said Holzer. “By sponsoring, you’re giving us this opportunity to show and train our horses at a global level and making it so that we actually can go to Europe now and compete with top European riders. Without your support, we would not be where we are now.”
Custom Saddlery is the maker of the Official Saddle of the U.S. Dressage Team through the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this summer. Custom Saddlery’s MVR Award is all about quality in riders, just as the company’s products are centered on the idea of top quality.
