Christy Scotch is an FEI Dressage rider and trainer, a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist, a graduate of the USDF L Judging program and has over 25 years of experience riding, training, coaching, and competing in a variety of disciplines ranging from Western to English.
Christy's dressage career began long after her passion for horses developed throughout her childhood. Her focus has been specifically on Dressage since 2005 but always on horsemanship.
Christy has experience training horses up the levels in Dressage from first starting them under saddle, all the way to training and competing at Grand Prix.
Notably, Christy trained her first Dressage horse from Training Level up to Grand Prix and earned all of her USDF medals on that horse...with only periodic help from Conrad Schumacher and Jason Canton.
She has a passion for teaching horses as well as helping riders develop a real relationship with their horse. She loves to play a part in helping her students accomplish their dreams…whether it is in competition or simply in improving their relationship with their horse.
She has trained extensively with Conrad Schumacher since 2005 and has also trained with Lilo Fore, Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg, Henk VanBergen, and Jason Canton. She considers her approach to horse training a little different than others in that she emphasizes that we are always training, even when we aren’t doing it intentionally, and even if we aren't a "professional." This mindset helps to foster respect between the horse and their partner and improves the relationship under saddle as well.
She is a strong believer in emphasizing ground manners in horses with a kind approach that makes sense to both the horse and rider.
Her current partner is a 7 year old Hanoverian mare by Desperados who is currently competing at 3rd Level and schooling 4th/PSG.
Christy also rides in a Wolfgang Solo.
